{ Sport Princess(TM) }

A friend of mine has a friend who came up with a really cool idea.
So cool, that I really want to share it with you because
the idea is genius and I believe in the message behind it.
Here's the scoop!

Bethany shares this on her blog:
"My Dream is to see little girls run around with
football jerseys over their dresses...
and glittery football stripes under their eyes.
Don't laugh, I'm not kidding!"(to husband, Ben)

Created by Bethany Hegerhorst, together with Leo Publishing Works, and an amazing illustrator out of Seattle, the SPORT PRINCESS (tm) Adventure Series of Children's Books launches in June 2010!"

I love this idea!!
Athletics have always played such an important role in my own life
and in my husband's life.
Together, we love to exercise and enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle.
Now, our children are beginning to participate in team sports
and there's no place we'd rather be but on the sidelines and in the stands
cheering on our favorite little people!

Growing up playing team sports has been such an amazing blessing in my life.
So many invaluable lessons were taught in the dirt,
under the sweat and sunscreen,
experiencing every emotion possible ranging from 0-100
during those 7 inning competitions.
Or in quarters, halves, or time periods.
Sometimes Time-outs were needed.
And the bench and I saw better days.

It was about getting out of what you put into it.
Trying harder, even when you've already given your all.
About exceeding limitations and creating a higher standard.
To work toward, to live by.
Discipline, not just to get the job done,
but to keep putting one foot in front of the other
and not giving up, not quitting on yourself, your teammates,
your coach, your fans.
Patience. Long-suffering. Enduring to the end.
About working out your muscles, and working out your mouth less.
Bridling passions, overcoming the natural man.
Breaking down, only to build up stronger than you started.
Bringing people up, not tearing them down.
Making friends, being the kind of friend people want to have.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Becoming more like Christ.
one.step.at.a.time.

We may experience the dirt, to appreciate cleanliness and purity.
We may need to feel the burn and sweat, to enjoy the strength we've built.
We've been given the sunscreen to prevent damage,
Spiritual protection is available to help us avoid the foul balls.
Sometimes, the curve balls get us anyway.
So, we deal,
and lean on the reservoir of strength we've built up within ourselves
and rely on the Coach of us all and plead for the mercy & grace that is ours,
after we've given all that we have and are.

And, with that game plan,
we can never fail.
